Metallic Inspiration

A metallic touch will give everyday outfits a futuristic feel. Gold, silver, copper and bronze toned pieces create richness and elegance while putting a fresh spin on more timeless looks. Incorporate the look into your wardrobe with shiny solid colours and detailed embellishments on your clothing, jewelry and accessories! To see more products from Metallic Touch, our metallic inspired collection, click here.

We love this trend for fall and winter 2012 and hope it sticks around. These shiny pieces are perfect for the holiday season for those extra special soirees when we all welcome a little extra sheen. Here’s a few ideas on how to wear metallics:
  • Pair metallics with neutral colours. For example, a metallic silver skirt with a nude coloured blouse looks tres chic!
  • Add chunky metallic jewelry to your little black or little white dress (our favourite!)
  • Wear clothing with tiny metallic details like embellishments around the neckline in the form of sequins and other shiny touches.
  • Try leather jewelry and accessories with silver studs for an edgy and trendy look.
  • If all else fails, paint your nails in a shiny silver, gold or copper shade- always a winner and safe bet for those afraid to go overboard on this trend. Same goes for using a metallic eye shadow to complete your look.

Love: Embellished Leather Belts

Belts are a great way to flatter your figure as they help provide a lovely hourglass shape to your waist.  Just as sporting statement jewelry or shiny shoes, a stunning embellished belt provides an eye catching focal point to any outfit. We’re obsessed with embellishments on our clothing and accessories so we chose to showcase these Embellished Leather Belts as chosen by our wonderful customers, and the different ways they can be styled.

1) Hide lumps and bumps caused by your tucked in t shirt by wearing a wide belt over top to smooth it out.

2) Wear a belt around a cardigan or over top a bulky sweater to add some shape to your silhouette.

3) Belt your little black dress or body con dress when going out for the night. The belt breaks up your outfit nicely. Try a belt with shiny studs or in a pop of colour.

4) Wear a belt to dazzle up a blah blouse and trouser ensemble. This is great for the office on those days your wardrobe needs a little pep!

5 Reasons to Wear Black & White

Black and white go together gloriously and this is especially true when it comes to fashion. Classic and sophisticated, no matter the season, black and white are the perfect pair. Never boring and always elegant for day or for night, black and white colour combinations are always a hit. Below are 5 reasons we adore it together.
5 Reasons to Wear Black & White

1.   Black and white looks good on absolutely everyone. Any skin tone, hair and eye colour can rock black and white, no problem!
2.   Its fail proof. If you can’t think of anything else to wear, black and white is always a reliable go- to look. For instance, a little black dress or little white dress is always a winner when you’re going out.
3.   Its always in style. Whether its 1952, 1982 or 2012, black and white will never get weird “aren’t you trying to be a little TOO trendy” looks your way.
4.   Black and white go with any other colour you can possibly imagine! Add accessories in any shade- pink, cobalt blue, bright yellow, neon orange, mint green- anything works. You’ll never get a mismatch.
5.   Similar to number 3, black and white is known to be timeless and classic, no matter the occasion. Remember Julia Roberts’ black and white Valentino gown that she wore when she accepted her Academy Award in 2001? Looking back today, she still looks absolutely stunning in her ensemble. Reese Witherspoon also wore an opulent black and white Armani gown at last year’s Oscars. She looked beautiful.

Neon colours and colour blocking may not be in style in 2, 3 or 5 years from now but you can bet black and white will be! For us, that's reason enough to love this colour combination. In fact, we like it so much we decided to add a Black and White Collection to our website.

Hair Oil- an Indian Beauty Secret Used for Centuries!

Hair oiling is a common practice women in many parts of the world including India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Morocco have done for centuries. Hair oil is super nourishing. It makes hair strong, shiny and it even prevents hair loss when used regularly. An amazing natural beauty aid, its moisturizing properties are very effective!

To use, apply oil generously to the scalp, massaging it into the roots of the hair. Keep massaging and distributing throughout the rest of the hair. Leave on as long as possible, overnight is ideal, but even letting it soak in for an hour will do wonders! If leaving the oil on over night is not an option, try it on a Sunday morning when you don't have to go anywhere. Let it sit for as long as possible. Wash hair and style as usual afterward. You'll notice a silky change in your hair after using oil just a few times. Try using it once per week to start.

Many different types of hair oils can be used. Try coconut hair oil which usually has ingredients like neem and rosemary in it, which not only benefits the hair but it also smells wonderful! Other great ones to try are almond, olive or sesame oil for the hair. All these types of hair oil can be found at very decent prices in any Indian or ethnic grocery store in your city.

Try oiling your hair regularly. It will really make a huge difference!

We love dark and edgy floral prints for Fall in our wardrobe right now. We're not ready to let go of the Spring trend of floral prints and good thing, as seen on the runways recently, they're not disappearing anytime soon! One of our favourite items for this Fall and Winter is this boho chic ruffled tunic top in a black floral print cotton burn out velvet with metallic gold hints.
